Why This Matters: April being the genocide awareness month as many may know this, because Rwandan genocide started in April, the Armenian genocide started in April and certainly the holocaust remembrance is in April. This coincidence has certainly inspired Watch Democracy Grow this year to organize a roundtable discussion on this social issue in general as trigger by genocide against the Tutsi to ensure that as we remember the past, we are deeply discussing on how to build a better tomorrow from a civil society perspective using positive citizenry orientations, democracy and human rights in order to build more safer, and stable communities globally.
Panel Schedule:
- Panel One (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM):
Brief overview on the country’s history, Literature review on other genocides elsewhere and how restorative justice can play a pivotal role by a foundation for building back better these torn communities - Panel Two (2:00 PM – 3:00 PM):
Similar challenges elsewhere, the role of democracy and human rights in facilitating social harmony and the role of positive citizenry orientations.
